Our Nephew Chase

So Nate has a twin brother, Jon and Jon is married to Holly.  They are some of our favorite people to hang out with.  It's funny to see how similar Jon and Nate really are in their mannerisms and humour.  They both love the outdoors, high risk jobs and building things.  Jon and Holly were married a little over a year before us and have paved the way with all the firsts. (they also LOVE black labs, this is Aspen their dog.. pretty sure Brody is in love with her)

Nte and I were so excited this last week when Jon and Holly had their first baby, a little boy Chase who is absolutely adorable.
We're excited to have him in the family and look forward to spoiling him:) And YES, Holly really does look that good after having a baby.

Brody

This is Brody, my brother's dog.  My brother decided he wanted a puppy and so he went out on a whim and bought the cutest puppy ever.  Too bad he lived in BYU housing and couldn't actually "have" a dog.  We became the babisitters and ever since then, Brody has become a huge part of our lives..
A little bit about Brody: He loves to eat!  He'll eat veggies...
...couches, wedding cake, hampsters, make-up and computer cords..(except he won't touch pickles)
He has his own facebook page as "Broderick Ogden" with 85 friends...

He is a cuddler, actually he can't really sleep by himself.. he HAS to have someone near by

When he's bad he hides behind the couch hoping no one will notice.  The best part is he LOVES to run. He's the only living thing that I know of, that patiently and sometimes not so patiently, waits by my bed at 5am for the alarm to go off hoping I can drag myself out and take him for a run. Who else does that?  I wish more of that could rub off on me!

Wedding Day

Recap of the Wedding day...Instead of making it convenient for everyone, we decided we wanted to be married in the Manti Temple, so early that morning we make the trek to Manti. This was my favorite part of the whole day.  The weather was perfect, the view was incredible and the ceremony was perfect in every way, we were even lucky enough to have Nate's Grandpa seal us. It was a testimony to me of the power of the temple and I was so grateful for the chance we had to be there with all our family and friends that we love so much!

After the Wedding, we sped back to Orem for the Reception.  We had it at the Timpanogas Park up in the Canyon, one of our favorite places.  So many people helped out!  My friends Erinn, John,Katie and Ryan came up from Cali and saved the day by putting things together and then my sisters (including sister-In laws) who are ALL creative decked it out in beautiful decorations.

My Mom also found an Awesome Caterer who had amazing food!

We danced...
Took a ton of pictures...

My cousin beat everyone to the bouquet:)

Had a blast talking to people and seeing people we hadn't seen in forever!
And then the night had to end... (If you look closely in the top right hand corner you can see the flame of fire from my brother who decided to light 30 sparklers at once...the scars are still healing)

Our Story

My version of the story.. One day in March of 2010 the Stake presidency of the 21st stake decided there were WAY too many old singles in one area and decided to form a new ward.  The next day we had an FHE activity at our Bishopric Counselor's house.. after a quick skim around the room I spotted the cutest boy in our whole stake.  After a 10 min conversation (where he told me all about his "Cosmo" days at BYU)  I knew I wasn't interested, too cocky and arrogant.   That sunday my roommate convinced me that I needed to date this boy and  made me go to his sunday school class to hear his lesson (she must have seen the prideful similarities) It just took one lesson for me to see how I couldn't have been more wrong.  He was humble, considerate and so talented. I knew I wanted to date this boy! Too bad every girl in the ward thought the same thing. After fighting many girls off (really, true story) and plenty of work and effort on my part, I finally convinced this amazing guy that he should marry me. July 2 we were sealed in the Manti temple and I truly am the luckiest girl in the world!

Nate's Version: First of all, I have NO IDEA what would lead someone to think I am, and I quote, "cocky and arrogant"...  Confident, yes. :)

My version starts a lot earlier than Kristen's.  I was living in Lehi with my buddy Jake, but I knew I was going to move back to Provo when he got married, so I started going to institute on Wednesday nights after work.  I kept noticing a really cute girl who would come in right before institute started and then get mobbed by all the desperate guys immediately following class.  I'm not exactly the aggressive type, so I never talked to her.

Finally March 2010 rolled around and I was back living in Provo.  I sat next to Holly ( my brother Jon's fiancee at the time - now wife :) ) at our Stake Conference, and lo and behold, we were right behind cute institute girl.  As the meeting progressed and the stake was reorganized, each new ward was asked to stand and sustain the changes.  Imagine my surprise when they called for the 216th ward to stand and I stood up along with a wall of girls in front of me, including institute girl!

We met officially at our first ward FHE, where I found out she had just won the Moab Half Marathon.  I was so intimidated that the only thing I thought might give me a chance with this girl was the Cosmo angle...  Turns out, she tells me, she had gone on a date with another Cosmo and was NOT impressed - great!

Anyway, the next time I saw her was the next Sunday when I was asked to teach Sunday School.  I was already nervous when she walked in and sat down with Carli (bless her heart!).  Talk about pressure!  I guess it went okay, because Kristen came up after class and told me I'd done a nice job.

And the rest, as they say, is history.  Just kidding - I'm just getting started, but you probably don't want to read the three hour version.  Let's just say that every time I talked to her, I felt better and better about the whole prospect and was more and more impressed.  She is incredible!  I fell hard.

Ta Dah!

After blog-stalking EVERYONE for many years, I am officially joining the blogging world.  I'm not very good at journal writing, ok so maybe I've written 5 entries in the past 6 years of my life.  Hopefully this will be easier..
